Bags, footwear, garments, accessories, toys, and some electronics are common sourcing conversations between China and India. “Common” does not mean unrestricted, duty-free, or suitable for every importer. This article is about what businesses look for and what to check. It is not a catalogue of goods SureLink has already accepted.
For the operational view — categories SureLink can discuss moving, with the limits stated on the page — see products we ship.
How to read a product shortlist
A shortlist is a demand observation. Before a shipment, the useful questions are narrower:
What is the exact product, including material, battery, and any radio function?
How many cartons, and what do they weigh and measure?
Who is the importer, and are the invoice and packing list in that importer’s name?
Does this model need a standard, a licence, or a label that you do not have yet?
Duties and GST can apply even when no special licence applies. A light product is not automatically a simple product.
Categories that come up often
Fashion jewelry and accessories. Often light and frequently reordered. Plated metal, children’s items, and anything with a battery or a stone-origin claim can change the document set. Do not treat the category as licence-free.
Footwear and garments. Common by sea or air depending on volume. Fibre content, brand marks, and quantity still belong on the invoice. Bulk garment orders are a different conversation from a sample carton.
Bags. A frequent air and consolidation product. Wheels, batteries in smart bags, and branded marks are the details that change the check.
Watches and wearable electronics. A simple analog watch and a Bluetooth watch are not the same import. If it charges or connects, say so before pickup. The electronics checklist is on importing electronics from China.
Toys and promotional goods. Age grade, small parts, magnets, and batteries matter. A toy “without electronics” can still be restricted. Promotional sets should be described as the actual contents, not as a gift name.
Mobile accessories. Cables, cases, chargers, and earbuds diverge quickly. A case is not a charger. Chargers and products with batteries or wireless functions need the extra check described above.
From a product idea to a shipment
If the goods are a sample or one or two cartons, start with small shipments from China. If several suppliers are involved, read how China consolidation is coordinated before assuming the cartons can simply be taped together.
When you know the product well enough to name it, send a shipping quote request with the supplier city, weight, and India destination. The quote is about moving that product. It is not an approval of the product idea.
